The Speech Therapist
Lena Astilli, M.A. CCC-SLP
I’m Lena Astilli, a licensed speech and language pathologist with more than 10 years of experience specializing in pediatric speech therapy. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children of all ages and abilities. I specialize in supporting those with articulation and phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, language delays and disorders, literacy challenges, and children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). My approach combines evidence-based practices with a focus on each child’s unique strengths. My goal as a speech therapist is to help children and teens build the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but I now live in Littleton, Colorado, with my partner, young son, and two energetic dogs. Outside of my work, I love baking, and tending to my native plant garden.
At the heart of my work is a passion for language, learning, and helping children grow. Above all, every child deserves the opportunity to find their voice and to express themselves. I’m honored to support families on this journey.
My Approach
Every child brings their own unique strengths, interests, and ways of learning to the speech therapy process. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and honors the individuality of each child. I believe speech therapy should be both effective and meaningful. Children make real progress when they feel supported, confident, and celebrated for who they are.
Firstly, I use a strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming lens, focusing on what each child can do and building from there. For younger children, sessions are guided by child-led play, which keeps therapy engaging and motivating, and promotes natural communication opportunities. By blending structured strategies with playful exploration, I create a flexible environment where children feel safe. As a result, children are able to take risks, try new skills, and grow at their own pace.
Most importantly, I see therapy as a partnership. Families are an essential part of the process. Together we work toward goals that not only support communication, but also connection, confidence, and joy in everyday life.
